Not getting your flossing done? Have you considered a Waterpik®?
Flossing is a necessary component of our daily oral hygiene routine.
A toothbrush alone simply cannot reach the plaque and food particles stuck between the teeth. Toothbrushing is even less effective on its own for those with braces, bridges, implants, or other appliances that introduce countless new hard-to-reach crevices where bacteria can hide.
However, if flossing is simply not for you, there are other options for cleaning in between the teeth. With the advanced technology in this day and age, old-fashioned flossing isn’t the only option. One of our favorite alternatives to traditional floss is the Waterpik® Water Flosser, the first powered interdental cleaner to earn the American Dental Association’s seal of approval.
How Waterpik Compares
Use of a Waterpik water flosser is beneficial for everyone. Evidence-based research studies have proven that use of a water flosser is just as effective, and in some cases more effective than use of traditional string floss alone. Patients with braces, orthodontic permanent retainers, bridges, implants, periodontal disease, poor dexterity, or those who simply dislike flossing will benefit most from use of a water flosser.

Get Your Own Waterpik Water Flosser!
Prices vary from as low as $30 to as high as $200, and the Waterpik is absolutely worth the initial cost! With proper cleaning of the teeth and gums, you will save yourself hundreds and possibly even thousands in the long run. In addition to saving money, with proper oral hygiene you should be able to keep your natural teeth for life, avoiding the need for uncomfortable dentures or partials.
Our practice in particular enjoys the practicality of the Waterpik. The Waterpik can be used for as long as you like until the teeth and gums feel clean. While it does not take more or less time than traditional flossing, it is much more enjoyable to use, which encourages patients to use it more often. This helps to keep our smiles healthy and beautiful.
We do not currently offer the Waterpik or any other water flossers for purchase in our office because each patient has a different need. Some may require different pressure (power range) than others or different tip selections (narrow/wide). With several different models out there, we feel it is best to recommend which model is most suitable for you at the time of your visit.
Water flossers are available for purchase online and at all major retailers such as Walmart, Walgreens, Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, and even some grocery stores.
